Paris Museum Guards arrested in theft of paintings by Degas

A security guard in a museum theft of a Edgar Degas painting has been arrested on Wednesday night.

Painting, “Les Choristes,” or “Chorus,” Musee Cantini missing since Thursday morning when staff discovered the museum was opened.

Worth $ 1.15 million, pastel impressionist painter was part of an exhibition of work by 20. It was on loan from the Musee d’Orsay.

Picture has been unscrewed from the wall. There was a break in a register.

Friday, a lawyer at the museum announced the arrest of a night watchman. Officials say that has not been recovered if the painting.

The 1877 work, which is 10 inches, male singers performing on a stage measuring 13 by illustration.
