France’s Minister of Education is prepared to close all schools in the country if a major outbreak of swine flu, a local newspaper reported Wednesday.
“In the event of a pandemic, we are ready to close all schools in France,” Luc Chatel was quoted as saying by Le Figaro, a newspaper based in Paris.
“There is no limit has been set for closing a school. It will be adapted on a case by case,” the minister said.
Chatel said that mass vaccination of children was not yet a problem.
French authorities, during the summer, he worked in distance education materials that can be transmitted on television, radio and the Internet to help students forced to stay home to continue with their classes, he added.
France has about a thousand swine flu infections and one death, but authorities are resuming school fuel a strong acceleration of the spread of the virus.
